With the advent of smartphones over the years in the hands of our students, some unsettling behavior has been reported by some students, especially on our school buses. The use of smartphone apps like Snapchat, Musically, Facebook, especially when our students are off school grounds, has sometimes brought about several social conflicts among our students.  There have been incidences where students communicate via Snapchat (includes photos, video and texts) at home or on the bus and this spills over into Weston School.  Home and school are two different environments but they do impact each other.  We are always watchful for any potential "spill-over" effect that social networking may have at school.  If an issue that starts on a social media app (like Snapchat) and results in a conflict at Weston, that issue is now a school disciplinary issue.

We at Weston, want to make sure that your children are safe and respectful when using social media apps.  These social media tools are best used under adult guidance and supervision.  Please talk with your child about this.  We appreciate your attention in the matter.  Together we can keep your child safe and se secure.

Please remind your students that if they have a phone at school for safety reasons, it must remain off and in their backpack during school and on the bus.  We would also recommend that they do not share with others they have a phone.  Weston is not responsible for lost, damaged,  or stolen phones.  We will take phones away if they are used in school, and a parent will need to pick the phone up.
